Extending Your Fellowship

Training extensions are accepted on a rolling basis, provided sufficient lead time to meet reappointment requirements including CPSO license and work permit renewals (if applicable). For domestic fellows, it’s recommended that the extension documents be submitted at least 2 months in advance of the current end date (as indicated on the training site letter of offer). For international fellows, the extension documents must be submitted at least 4 months in advance.

In order to extend their training, fellows should discuss the extension with their supervisors as well as their sponsoring agency if applicable. If the supervisor is supportive of the extension and remuneration is available for the extension period, fellows must submit the following documents:

- Clinical fellows: new offer letter and educational objectives form (for psychiatry specialists)/ cross-departmental educational objectives form (for other specialists)

- Research fellows: new offer letter and a letter from the supervisor outlining the educational goals for the extension period
