Dr. Bao completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, specializing in Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology. She graduated with honors. She then continued her studies in Medicine at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Her interest in psychology, the brain and the mind prevailed leading her to choose to continue her residency studies in Toronto, specializing in Psychiatry. She completed her training in 2021.

Dr. Bao has a strong interest in medical education and mentorship. She is currently the lead physician for UpReach, a mentorship program for psychiatry residents. She received the MD Program Teaching Excellence Award from the Temerty Faculty of Medicine in 2021 recognizing teaching excellence. She has also been a recipient of past awards including the Social Pediatrics Research Scholarship from The Hospital for Sick Children and the Ontario Genomics Institute Summer Research Fellowship.
